Today, the Human Rights Campaign Foundation, the educational arm of the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), the nation’s largest lesbian, same-sex attracted, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) civil rights organization, and the Equality Federation Institute released their 7th annual Articulate Equality Index (SEI). The SEI is a comprehensive announce that details statewide laws and policies that affect LGBTQ people and their families and assesses how well states are protecting LGBTQ people from discrimination. The Human Rights Campaign (HRC) has ranked each state across the country for its approach to LGBTQ+ equality and a Newsweek map shows where each mention stands on the spectrum.
A total of 23 states received the lowest classification from the HRC. Newsweek has reached out to press representatives for the individual governmental bodies for each express, via email or online build outside of regular working hours for comment.
