How Dallas native Kyle Ross went from drug addict to porn star to the subject of the YA bio ‘Twink’

In 2008, Kyle Ross was 17 years old, living in a tiny Tennessee town, digging through his mother’s medicine cabinet, searching for Xanax.

In a few years, animation would be different — he’d be a well-known model for Helix Studios (an adult motion picture company) known for his wholesome good looks and his youthful body. He’d still be into the Xanax, but he’d be out of Tennessee, living animation as someone sought after and, in some circles, famous.

But that was the future. In 2008, he was stuck in a tiny burg, looking for tiny pills. He’d been uprooted from a great life in Dallas to here.

Ross’ unusual journey is chronicled in Twink, the second book in 13 Red Media’s Rise Up Series, written by Taylor Saracen. Despite the title, Twink isn’t erotica; rather, it’s Ross telling his story plainly to LGBTQ youth like he was, who often struggle as preteens and teens, and to let them know that they are not alone. (The Rise Up Series was started by Saracen, a former middle and upper school teacher with a degree in applied psychology, to assist to de-stigmatize less orthodox coming of age stories.)

The Sword is saddened to report that the queer porn world is mourning the loss of former performer Kyle Ross, whose death by car accident was confirmed by Helix in a tweet earlier this week.

The studio posted this on Tuesday:

Ross had been posting from his trip in Florida on social media in the days leading up to his passing:

Ross then posted on April 23rd about how he was refused boarding on his American Airlines flight from Miami to San Diego. The details are unclear, but Ross seems to indicate he was denied boarding because the boarding clerks told him he didn’t submit the paperwork for his service animal in time. Ross posted afterward and the next morning that he had to sleep in his rental car because the four local hotels were all booked—and as a result, his multiple sclerosis medication was ruined by the heat:

The 29-year-old Ross began

Helix model Kyle Ross has entered the world of publishing with his unreal new book ‘Twink’.

Written by Taylor SaracenTwink is a coming-of-age novel that chronicles Kyle before he was famous, when he was a skinny, gay teenager trying to navigate his way through the most hard time in his life: high school.  It is a journey in self-discovery as Kyle struggles to find acceptance from friends and family while also confronting a mother battling life challenges of her own.

Word to the wise: this is not an erotic novel. It’s designed for young readers who might be going through or own gone through something similar compared to Kyle.

Kyle exclusively chatted with Instinct about Twink, his illustrious adult film career (seven years and running), how he’s been able to successfully transition into a role behind the camera and what’s next for him.
