Dr. Stone sexuality and preferences headcanons part 2

No longer celebration month but I have a free weekend before my next semester. Adore the mess❤️

Tw: Little mention of homophobia.

Chrome Bisexual

  • Chrome has been in love with Ruri for ages, so he never questioned his sexuality before. But when the Kingdom of Science came, Chrome realizes that he may be into men too; he is still in love with Ruri though.
  • He likes them pretty. It's not like masculine characteristics are bad or anything; they are great, but attractive men are his go-to.
  • Ukyo is someone that makes him blush right away, no one other than Ruri was capable of that.
  • Chrome's heart will always belong to Ruri; but if the universe desires otherwise, he wouldn’t intellect going out with Ukyo. They both have things in common and detect their relationship quite pleasant.

Ginro Bisexual

  • Another bi boy
  • He does contain a clear taste for women.
  • Unlike Chrome, he did interrogate his sexuality prior on.
  • Long ago, because of his delicate features, a drunk guy muddled him with a girl and conclude up stealing his first kiss. He was in shock and mad but shocked nonetheless. That night several "gay thoug

Is Gen gay-coded or just an entertainer? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ random thoughts/observations about his speech in Japanese

Warnings: Extended. mentions of gendered language and homophobic characterizations

The concept of “role language” is super important in Japanese fiction, because how a nature talks can announce you a lot about their traits. Unfortunately, it’s often lost in translation because languages favor English don’t include the ability to play around with formality levels, pronouns, etc as much.

Ever since I first watched the dcst anime like a year and a half ago, I’ve had no notion if Gen is intended to be the “gay friend” character or just the “quirky celebrated guy,” or maybe both? I figured that writing out my thoughts might be interesting for some people! Grab everything with a grain of salt tho since I’m not a native speaker

    1. Backwards speech

I want to first cover backwards speech (localized as pig latin in the English manga) because this used to confuse the fuck out of me. It felt enjoy a quirky teen thing or internet slang, but it’s actually [zuuja-go] (“jazz” written backwards +

Look I don’t wanna speak that Senkuu is extremely gay coded

    But Senkuu is extemely gay-coded.

Like even in the manga he is, and everything he does only makes it more and more obvious to me.

Also he totally has the hots for Taiju, at least at first, and no one can say anything to make me think otherwise.

Dr. Stone is an already wack series because, in an almost unheard of phenomenon, the most fascinating, fun, and likable ethics in the main cast IS ACTUALLY THE PROTAGONIST, and that already makes the series so much better than it would be otherwise.

Also the cast is almost relentlessly LGBTQIA+-coded, both the protagonists and antagonists. It’s a uncommon series where non-straight sexuality and coding of such is not demonized, not exclusively assigned to the villains, and is something that everyone shares.

Senkuu’s coding shifts between aroace and homosexual (his calling him and Taiju the ‘Adam and Eve’ of the new world, his total disinterest in Yuzuriha, Ruri, and Kohaku, and the way he talks about his relationship with Taiju), and, unlike almost all male shonen protagonists, he never shows interest in the bodies of the women around him.

    Tsukasa’s coding is

    Asagiri en-gay

If you haven't noticed, Gen has this.. Unique? Way of saying some words. It appears in both the English dub and the Japanese and of course in the manga (in some translations) its ok if you haven't noticed.

So basically he takes a synonyms and moves the first half(or the first letter) of the word to the back

    For example:

    Japanese

    Sugoi(amazing) = goi-su

    Hidoi(terrible) = doi-hi

In the English version its a bit more complicated since some Words wouldn't flow smoothly, so we just add an 'ay' to the end of it

    For example:

    English

    Crazy = azy-cray

    Nasty = asty-nay

So.. If we take Gen's own identify and use this method in Japanese it would be 'en-g' but since 'en-g' doesn't flow smoothly that means we hold to add the 'ay' and once we add the 'ay' it's 'En-gay'.

    And there you possess it.
