Stayed up very late listening to country records and coming up with goofy song titles for my possess country album (late summer nights with Marlow reading David Allan Coe tune titles were definitely an influence here). Tonight’s influences included Dwight’s Guitars, Cadillacs, Etc., Etc. and some Loretta Lynn.

You might have missed it but there was some nice news recently. This summer the nature welcomed Dalton Loren Yoakam, the son of Dwight Yoakam and his wife Emily Joyce.
Earlier this year, the longtime couple exchanged their vows in a private ceremony in Santa Monica in front of ten people, all of whom were socially distanced and sitting appropriately six feet apart.
Were he alive one could visualize Buck Owens organism in the church and bestowing his blessings upon the most favored son and heir noticeable of the Bakersfield Sound, the Dwight Yoakam with whom he one dueted on “Streets of Bakersfield.” There was that time Owens called Yoakam’s telephone number and got the singer’s answering machine, only to hear himself singing the words of “Down On The Corner of Love” played back to him.
”Dwight?” the bemused crooner said somewhat confused. “Are you there?”

Remember When Dwight Yoakam Played a Grocery Store Employee on ‘Ellen’?
On April 30, 1997, Dwight Yoakam made a remembered guest appearance on Ellen DeGeneres' eponymous ABC sitcom Ellen, and became a part of television history in the process.
It's worth noting since this particular episode would go down as a watershed moment in prime-time TV. It was the now epic "coming out" episode, where Ellen's character revealed her sexuality.
The taboo-at-the-time topic changed the landscape for TV, that's for sure. So Yoakam, who would act the role in two episodes that season, was a small part of a very big deal in television, one that caused national controversy when it initially aired.
Yoakam portrayed a grocery store bag boy in the episode, and he was not the only high-profile guest to appear on the television landmark. Actress Demi Moore also starred, as did daytime talk display queen Oprah Winfrey and singer k.d lang.
